Inclusive Education —Undoing Authority to Transform.
Inclusive Education is often reduced to a superficial way of ‘doing diversity and inclusion’ in the realm of education, thus stifling its transformative potential. During this event, Naomi van Stapele and other researchers from the research group Inclusive Education will offer critical explorations of three dimensions of Inclusive Education to provide new avenues for anti-oppressive pedagogies.
Inclusive Education:
1. Departs from the lived experiences of teachers and learners to explore boundary-making (such as through institutional racism, sexism, classism, ableism, etc.).
2. Sets out to interrogate the way in which modes of authority (e.g., of the teacher, the curriculum, the institution) and adjacent boundary-making are undone.
3. Makes visible where possibilities rise for non-conformity.
The lectorate is part of the Centre of Expertise ‘Global and Inclusive Learning’ and falls under the Faculty for Social Work and Education.
