Hoe ziet protest er vandaag de dag uit? Soms luidruchtig, soms juist stil. Soms creatief, soms confronterend. Protest kan persoonlijk zijn of juist een collectieve daad. Van straatdemonstraties tot poëzie, muziek, mode en kunst – protest kent vele vormen.
The Art of Protest is een lezingreeks aan De Haagse Hogeschool. Elke week bespreken we hoe mensen overal ter wereld protest gebruiken om onrecht zichtbaar te maken, zichzelf te laten horen en verandering te stimuleren. Je ontdekt de geschiedenis én toekomst van protest aan de hand van echte verhalen, culturele voorbeelden en creatieve invalshoeken.
Gastsprekers uit heel Europa delen hun werk en visie. Kunstenaars, performers en activisten geven inzicht in hoe protest onze samenleving blijft vormen – op krachtige en soms onverwachte manieren.
Deze lezingen zijn voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in activisme, creativiteit, maatschappelijke thema’s, of simpelweg nieuwsgierig is naar een andere kijk op protest.
De lezingreeks is een samenwerking tussen European Studies en The Lighthouse.
Aanmelden
De lezingen zijn gratis en toegankelijk voor alle studenten en medewerkers van De Haagse Hogeschool. Je kunt één lezing bijwonen, een paar, of gewoon allemaal. De lezingen worden gegeven in het Engels.
Lezingen en planning
De lezingen vinden op dinsdagen plaats van 2 september t/m 9 december 2025, telkens van 10.30 tot 12.00 uur. In totaal zijn er 13 sessies, waarbij elke week een ander thema rondom protest, activisme en creatieve vormen van verzet centraal staat.

Explores the role of civic protest in upholding democracy, showcasing global examples of non-violent, creative protest.
