Challenge yourself to develop new skills

“We create an atmosphere that balances and blends theory and practice. The MICM classroom experience is rich in opportunities for the unique mix of ideas, experiences and perspectives. Throughout the program you will challenge yourself to develop new skills, and apply them to the real world. Group work interaction, individual assignments, research papers, case studies and interactive discussions contribute to this".

Students prepare their views and come to class ready to debate

“Blended learning has always been a feature of the MICM curriculum but gained special focus during the pandemic - it is hoped that a rounded experience is provided for students and that the classroom sessions are merely the "together" part of their learning experience, a portion of the time they spend exploring and enjoying Internal Communication studies.

In the Managing Internal Communication module the "together" time in the classroom is used wisely by providing tasks, questions, literature searches and materials to watch in the hours and days before coming along to the session, both individually and in the Learning Communities (LC). An example is for students to prepare their views (either their own, or based on literature) and come to class ready to debate. An example of a debate topic would be "We pay the employees a good salary - why do we have to communicate with them too?" This is a controversial view that still exists in some hierarchical companies in developed countries and in many countries in the developing world. Debates raise awareness of the varying maturity levels of internal communication, employee engagement and change management communications across the globe”
